Thermocouple  Bargains

Thermocouples are a precision method to measure temperature
by generating a small voltage using the Seebeck effect. They are
especially useful at very high and very low temperatures.

Although special temp displays are normally used that must be very
carefully matched to the characteristics of the chosen thermocouple,
an ordinary digital voltmeter and table lookup can sometimes be
substituted instead. As can computer or embedded processing.

   Type "T" Industrial Pipe Thermocouple:

$24.50

Apparently unused "as new" super clean surplus still sealed in its military packaging. NSN 6685-01-133-1951. An unusual variation in a Type T thermocouple in that it is preattached to an ordinary two inch stainless steel hose clamp. Intended for measurement of pipe or tube temperatures.

Fourteen inch cable terminates in standard bright blue Conax "T" connector and strain relief. Type T thermocouples are best suited for low cyrogenic through medium high industrial temperatures. You can obviously handle larger pipe diameters of any sane diameter simply by adding a second hose clamp.

Requires DVM or instrument capable of accepting type "T" thermocouple characteristic inputs. Similar units typically list for $139.00.

26 Foot Type "T" Thermocouple Extension Cable:

$18.50

Extending a thermocouple with ordinary wire causes all sorts of problems because of the dissimilar metal contacts at unknown temperatures. For precision work, special extension cables should be used that are identical to the thermocouple itself.

This is a 26 foot (!) extension cable for type T thermocouples. It is fully shielded and has Conax blue connectors at each end. It is apparently unused mil surplus as NSN 6685-01-133-4305 and the feds paid $70 each for these.

Can also be used as a source of Constantan wire for your own thermal experiments. Outer ~sealed~ package may have storage scuffs or discolorations. Cable itself appears to be very clean and "as new".
